County fairs are pretty amazing. i go to the huge minnesota state fair at least 5 times every year, but it’s so much visual overload it’s damn hard to draw. i like the small county fairs because they are sparse and easy to take in. we spent the summer hitting quite a few... often times getting that look you get when you walk in a small town bar and everyone stops and looks at you knowing you’re not from around there. besides being a bit uncomfortable and feeling like we needed an invite to show up, we had a pretty good time. we ate tons of great food (do eat BBQ pork chops at county fairs) and some crappy food (don’t eat mexican food at county fairs). these tiny little suckers are a great warm up for the monster state fair that happens at the end of summer, maybe someday i’ll find a way to draw that.
